NCAA III Womens' Golf championship scoreboard
Bits and Pieces from the end-of-the-season:
Frosh Nicole Petrocchi eyes her shot heading to towards the flag at Skippack |
SKIPPACK, Pa. – Junior Lauren Sobotka (North Caldwell, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic Academy) and freshman Nicole Petrocchi (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central) each posted career lows as the Gettysburg College women's golf team faced off with Ursinus College at the Skippack Golf Club on Friday.
A late addition to the schedule, the round was added to ensure all the teams in the Centennial Conference met the minimum standard for the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship. As the conference champion, Gettysburg would receive the AQ, but the ultimate decision now rests with the NCAA. Official announcement of the national field will take place Monday, May 5, at 6 p.m. on NCAA.com.
Gettysburg posted a team score of 362 to easily out-distance Ursinus at 457. Sobotka, the runner-up at last weekend's conference championship, posted a nine-over 81 to top her previous collegiate best by one stroke. Petrocchi shaved two strokes off her personal best with an 85.
Freshman Lynn Hatcher (Easton, Md./St. James School) and sophomore Kate Schwartz (Laureldale, Pa./North Warren Regional (N.J.)) each scored 98 to round out the lineup.
