Wild and Mills Go Head-to-Head at Rutgers Junior Open

golf course

Rutgers Open day one results have former GGG and Hunterdon Central senior Jess Wild (79) three shots behind co-leaders Erin DiDonato and fellow Hunterdon County resident Voorhees high school's junior Kenaida Mills(76). Voorhees sophomore Sophie Lipomanis(98) is also in the 27-player field.

Lipomanis, Mills and Wild play on their respective high school golf teams, Voorhees and Hunterdon Central yet they have never faced off in a regular season golf match.

The reason: Wild plays on the Red Devil varsity girls golf team while Lipomanis and Mills play on the Viking varsity boys golf team because Voorhees high school does not field a girls golf team.

The leaders tee-off for second round action at 10:21 a.m.

Former GGG junior golfer incoming HC freshman Katie Lee is in the field for the 1-day 18-hole division.

Inbee Eyes St. Andrews Next then Defends at LPGA's 5th Major Evian Masters

Watching Inbee on Sunday, my husband Johnny and I were in awe of her putting prowess.

Johnny noted that Park puts overspin on her ball because of her contact point with the top half of the ball.

Thanks to dvr magic we were able to slow all the action down to look at her various putting strokes.

Guess what?

The dvr does not lie. There it was.

Stroke after stroke. Park catches her ball on the upswing.

She actually contacts the ball below the sweet spot on her putter.
We will be taking this fact with us into the laboratory (read that as: golf course!)

In the meantime, congratz to Inbee on winning the third straight major of year.

Countdown to Women's British Open at St. Andrews on August 1-4.

The Evian Masters is the LPGA's 5th major Sept. 12-15 in France.

Guess who will be defending her 2012 Evian Masters championship title???
Make some more history, Inbee!

2 majors down, 3 to go for Inbee Park
