Former GGGers Card Second & Fifth as Individuals at Gettysburg Fall Invitational

The Gettysburg College women's golf team closed out its fall season by placing second among five scoring teams at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational, held at the Hershey Country Club West course on Tuesday.

The Bullets shot a 367 to place eight strokes behind Division II Millersville University, which was led by medalist Danielle Freed's 13-over-par 86.

Senior Kara McNulty (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) finished just one stroke behind Freed, tying for second among 27 golfers with an 87. Freshmen Sarah Hansen(Cumberland, Maine/Greely) and Nicole Petrocchi (Whitehouse Station, N.Y./Hunterdon Central) each carded an 89 to tie for fifth while sophomore Kate Schwartz (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) completed the team scoring, posting a 102 to place 14th.

The Bullets will pick up their schedule during the spring.

LPGA Asia Swing begins in China

The LPGA Tour begins its five-tournament Asia swing this week at the inaugural Reignwood LPGA Classic outside of Beijing. In conjunction with the China Golf Association and the China LPGA, the Pine Valley Golf Club will play host to 81 LPGA and CLPGA players who will compete over 72 holes for a chance at the $270,000 first-place check and be the first to etch their name on the tournament’s trophy.

GIrls Go Golfing Salutes GGG Alumnus & Former Red Devil Kara McNulty as She Scores a Medalist Hatrick at the Muhlehberg Invitational

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior Kara McNulty (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) won medalist honors for the third match in a row and the 12th time in her career to lead the Gettysburg College women's golf team to the title at the three-team Muhlenberg Invitational on Monday at the Lehigh Country Club.

Led by McNulty's 80, Gettysburg shot a 357 to win by 38 strokes over Muhlenberg while Ursinus came in third with a 505. The Bullets claimed four of the top-five finishers in a field of 13.

McNulty, who owns the school record for career victories, ended up 10 over par and won by 11 strokes over her teammate, freshman Sarah Hansen (Cumberland, Maine/Greely), and Muhlenberg's Kristin Lang, each of whom shot a 91.

Rounding out the Bullets' team scoring were sophomore Kate Schwartz (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional), who placed fourth with a 92, and freshman Nicole Petrocchi(Whitehouse Station, N.Y./Hunterdon Central), who took fifth with a 94.

Gettysburg closes out the fall portion of its schedule next Tuesday when it hosts the Gettysburg Invitational at the Hershey Country Club.

Meanwhile, in recent IJGT action former GGG player and Del Val high school senior Zora Moore placed seventh in a 2-day IJGT event held at Turtle Creek in Limerick, PA on Sat, Sep 22 - Sun, Sep 23, 2012. Of special note is the fact that Limerick, PA is approximately a 5-minute drive from my current address!!!
