 The 8 Essential Playing Skills

1. LEAVE YOUR MIND BEHIND: Learn to engage with the shot. Just make it happen.

2. DECIDE AND COMMIT: Become a more confident player by learning to make clear decisions that you trust and stick with.

3. FIND YOUR BALANCE: Be centered physically and mentally.

4. FEEL YOUR TEMPO AND DANCE TO ITS RHYTHM: Learn how your natural tempo feels and discover what tempo works best for you.

5. TAME TENSION: Recognize tension and how to manage it. Balance, tempo and tension awareness (BTT) will make any swing better.

6. BUILD EMOTIONAL RESILIENCE: Learn how to turn disappointing results into steppingstones rather than stumbling blocks.

7. STORE MEMORIES: File away the good and neutralize the bad. You can learn from the past to make a better present.

8. DROWN SELF-TALK IN USEFUL THOUGHTS: Hear that voice in your head that raises doubts and fears? We all have it. Have a dialogue with it.

The 2 Essential Practice Skills

1. SIMULATE GOLF: Make practice like golf by inviting the pressure of performing onto the practice range with you. This is crucial to getting better.

2. INTEGRATE SKILLS: Don't just hit balls, practice with a purpose. Have a plan. Hit each shot with an objective in mind.

Mark Bittman, Brussel Sprouts & Putting:Perfect Together!

Perfect food on a cold February day!
Things have been pretty blustery and cold around here lately.

We have been keeping ourselves busy by trying recipes from Mark Bittman's Food Matters cookbook http://markbittman.com/less-meat-mondays-cannelini-with-shredded-bru

Then we head downstairs to a Dave Pelz-inspired "rail"system  to practice a rhythmic in-line putting stroke.  Dave has putting drills you can use inside and outside. Checkout the following link to hear from Dave himself! http://wn.com/Dave_Pelz_Putting_Drill

Playing Twin Eagles Eagle Course Today with GGG directors Lydia & Johnny

Johnny & I were excited to play the Eagle course today at Twin Eagles golf club in Naples, Florida.

The LPGA is scheduled to tee it up here the week before Thanksgiving in 2012.

We LOVE it when we can play or walk a course the pros are going to play---it makes watching on television even more interesting because you played the course--if you ever get the chance to play a course the pros play--go for it!

I played the IV tees around 6000 yards and Johnny played the III combo tees at 6500 yards. We were guaranteed by the staff that the course was playing firm and we would get lots of roll (for shots in the fairway!) plus I was feeling incredibly energetic due to my chia seed infused oatmeal with blueberries and bananas!

I am following a new treatment regimen---let's hope that it is helping and putting me on the REAL road to recovery--stay tuned!

Our favorite hole was the drivable par 4 16th hole! It is going to provide some excitement during the tournament.

We played our usual team best ball and finished the day at 3-over par.

No eagles but two nice birdies to keep us in the mix. We found the description and photograph below at the Twin Eagles website. We managed to find a nice price on golfnow.com

"We wanted to create a remarkable experience on this course," said Smyers, who followed examples set by the ‘Golden Age’ of golf course architecture to create a course that is all about strategy and the challenge of risk/reward shots. The design forces decision making scenarios and rewards precise shot-making. "The amazing thing about this course is that the elevation changes have created a northern feel on a southern golf course," said Scott Newhouse, Director of Golf at TwinEagles. "The 9th hole is one of the neatest looking second shots into a par 4 that I’ve ever seen in the state of Florida," he added. Imaginatively shaped greens, one of which is over 15,000 square feet, will add to the allure of the new course. The best feature of this design philosophy is that it provides a different experience for golfers each time the course is played.
