Amanda Beebe Leads GGG contingent at Rutgers Open

Swarthmore-bound Hunterdon Central graduate Amanda Beebe of Whitehouse Station  lead the GGG contingent at the Rutgers Open in the junior miss division. The former GGG player and student-intern fired a solid first round 82 followed by another 82 in round two (42-40) to tie for fifth in the 21-player field.

Next up for Beebe is representation of her "home course" and GGG venue Raritan Valley Country Club in  the 86th Womens' Amateur Championship on Tuesday August 2 at Hackensack Golf Club. The link below lists the full field and tee times.

Alex Yang of Princeton high school played well shooting (84) on day one and (41-47-88) on day two for ninth place. She will be representing Mercer Oaks golf club in the NJ State Womens' Amateur Championship.

Most improved honors during round one and two go to to GGGers: Zora Moore of Delaware Valley Regional high school and Jess Wild of Hunterdon Central high school.

Zora Moore followed up a first round (97) with a second round (42-45-87) earning her twelfth place. Zora's round included two back-to-back birdies on the par four fifth and sixth holes.

Jess Wild shot 104 in round one and improved eleven shots in round two (48-45-93) for 15th place.


Marissa Castaldo of Hunterdon Central Regional high school made a good showing in her first 36-hole event with (56-54-110) and (54-52-106)  finishing in 19th place.

Another Red Devil teammate of Beebe, Wild and Castaldo Liz Dryden posted a (107) in round one but withdrew due to an injury and did not post a score in round two.

Finally, Kaitlin Flynn teed it up in the nine-hole division shooting a 55.
